    About Maarssen

Along the Vecht in Maarssen stand seventeenth-century country estates where wealthy Amsterdammers once spent their summers: Doornburgh, Goudestein, Bolenstein. That calm and ease still hangs around — only with more cycle paths and fewer wigs. The Vecht route itself is one of the most beautiful cycle routes in the Netherlands, and it ends, in effect, in Utrecht Zuidwest, a few minutes from my practice.

    How to Get Here

By car about twelve minutes via the A2 (exit Hooggelegen or Lage Weide), or via the N230 if the A2 is jammed. By train seven minutes from Maarssen station; from Utrecht Centraal you cycle in ten minutes or take bus 28 to Vondellaan/Rijnlaan. Drivers can reserve a free spot right at the door.

    Massage from Maarssen

From Maarssen — whether the atmospheric Maarssen-Dorp along the Vecht, or the newer Maarsseveense Plassen area — you're at The Ease Room in about a quarter of an hour. A2 towards Utrecht, exit Hooggelegen, and you roll right onto the Vondellaan. For people who'd rather take the train: from Maarssen station it's seven minutes to Utrecht Centraal, then a ten-minute bike ride or bus 28.

Many people who live in Maarssen work at Utrecht Centraal, in Utrecht-Oost, or commute on to Amsterdam, Hilversum or Schiphol. Head work, office hours, traffic. Coming home along the Vecht feels lovely but doesn't undo everything. A holistic massage is the moment where you really get out of the car, out of the head, and back into your body.

    Tip from Maarssen

A surprisingly quiet route: from Maarssen-Dorp past Goudestein and Bolenstein along the Vecht route southwards, then on the last stretch through Park Voorn into the city. Much nicer than the A2 — and ends almost at the door of the practice.
